Mike Baca Strikes Again

This will be short. I just wanted to make a note about Mike Baca's exceptional speaking ability (sarcasm). The guy is a veritable wordsmith. At least he has branched out from his patented "wow" and pulling some new ones off of his Word-a-Day calendar. But apparently he isn't entirely aware of how words are commonly used in context. When describing the NFC championship game between the Bears and the Packers, he talks about the "faux pas" when Rodgers throws an interception in the red zone. Yeah, that was a faux pas. You know. A socially awkward mistake. Something you say or do that apparently everyone knows is against social norms but you. Aaron Rodgers totally thought that throwing an interception to Urlacher right in front of the end zone was what he was supposed to do. Boy was his face red when the rest of his team told him that most quarterbacks don't do that (except for Jay Cutler).

Yes, a faux pas is a mistake and often embarrassing. Yes, I'm sure that Rodgers was embarrassed by the mistake he made in the red zone. No, it was not a faux pas. Close, but not quite, Mike. Another swing and a miss...

faux pas: a socially awkward or tactless act; false step [French]; figuratively, a social blunder; a social blunder or mistake
