| « 30-Day Beer Challenge: Day 1 - Butte Creek Porter Sauteed Mushrooms and Ribeye Steak | The Pioneer Woman » |
I decided yesterday to embark on a journey. That journey begins today. For the next 30 days, I will be using a different beer every day to create a new recipe. I will make something with the beer as an ingredient and post the results and the recipes here on Any Guy's Food Blog. Ok, that may be partially a lie. I'm actually considering one or two old recipes that I have already developed, but have yet to post. So MOST of the recipes will be new.
I'm really excited about this endeavor. Yesterday I started to brainstorm a list of beers. Some of the definite selections are from Sierra Nevada, Deschutes' The Abyss and some classic favorites like Guinness. I'm trying to hold out and save something really special for my final recipe, but we'll see how that works itself out. I have also decided not to post my entire list of 30 now because I am intentionally leaving a few empty spaces to see what impulse buys pop up during the month.
Bradonweb also suggested that I pick at least 7 "awful beers". I'm think I'm going to do those 7 back to back and come up with some catchy name like the "Weak Week" or something. It'll have to be better than that.
While my general goal for this blog is easy recipes that will appeal to any guy regardless of cooking ability, this challenge will challenge me. Weird, huh? So there will be quite a variety of recipes and types of food. Some of the stuff might be a little more complex than I usually intend. We'll all have to just live with that. In addition, there may be a little more range in types of food. Guaranteed there will still be some manly foods: ribeye steak, beer-battered chicken, etc. But I am thinking breads, cakes and desserts as well that might be more the types of recipes that you only break out when trying to impress the ladies.
I'm also going on some short vacations during the next 30-days so I may post several days all at one time. This weekend I leave on Friday and come back Sunday. So I may post two recipes on Thursday and two on Sunday or something of that sort. But rest assured that I will assign one recipe to each of the next 30 days.
So get ready and get hungry! I'm excited about the next 30 days!
