Hipster whiners be warned: I personally think PBR is the worst beer I have ever tasted. And I have had some awful beers. When it was suggested to me that I do 7 bad beers, this was the first that came to mind.

The good news is that beer is made of barley and malts and such, so those flavors should be imparted to the batter.

Ingredients:

2 large eggs
1 can Pabst Blue Ribbon
2 cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 lbs chicken breast (cut into strips)
vegetable oil

Directions:

Beat the eggs in a mixing bowl. Beat in the flour, PBR, baking soda and salt. I seasoned lightly with some pepper also. Get creative. (I don't recommend garlic in any form though. In my opinion, it doesn't fry well.)

Heat the oil in a pan of deep fryer to 350 degrees F. Fill to a suitable depth. I used about 60 oz of oil in my deep fryer.

Once the batter is very thoroughly mixed, dip the chicken tenders in the batter, then carefully dip into the fryer. Flip as needed. Take them out with tongs when nice and brown (5 or so minutes).

Tip: Do not use a fryer basket. The better will make the chicken tenders stick to the basket. Not helpful.

Tasting Notes:

It was alright. The batter wasn't bad, I can't really complain about chicken tenders ever. It just wasn't that exciting. The beer flavor cut through, but it wasn't enough to really win me over. I don't think I'll be using this recipe again any time soon even with a different beer. 5 out of 10. Boring.
