Skewers are a perfect finger food, so one of the ideas that immediately occurred to me was sirloin skewers. Not everything has to be complicated, so I went simple on these. I was pleased.
~1 lb beef top sirloin
6-8 medium crimini mushrooms
12-16 pearl onions (peeled)
salt
ground black pepper
olive oil
Cut the sirloin into cubes slightly larger than each pearl onion. Cut the mushrooms in half. I recommend you also lightly saute them so they don't split when being applied to the skewer. If you find toothpicks big enough, you can use them. Otherwise, using small skewers, skewer 1 onion, 1 cube of sirloin and 1 half mushroom. Place on a grill on medium-high to high. Drizzle olive oil over the top and sprinkle with salt and black pepper. Turn and sprinkle more salt and pepper on all sides. Continue to turn regularly until the meat is cooked all the way through.
This is a super simple and easy recipe. If you can't find appropriately sized skewers, you could also take long skewers and break them in halves or thirds.
