French fries can work out pretty well as a pre-meal party snack, but just plain old french clearly weren't going to cut it for this challenge. I wanted something different.
4-5 yams
1 liter vegetable oil
~1/2 cup white sugar
1-2 tbsp cinnamon
In a deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 360 degrees F.
Slice the yams up into french fry shaped and sized sticks. Fry the yam fries for about 12 minutes. Remove yams from oil, drain and allow to cool for 10 minutes.
Toss the yam fries with a generous portion of white sugar and a sprinkling of cinnamon. Serve.
These are delicious and simple. Serve with small plates and let people go to town. It reminded me of Thanksgiving-flavored french fries. So tasty.
