Whenever I go to visit the girlfriend's parents in Roseville, I have to stop buy one of the local BevMo clones. I'd go to BevMo, but they're prices are always beat. The last time I stopped in, I decided that I wanted to try some new beers. I grabbed one of the store 6-pack containers and started browsing through the singles aisles (single beers). I figured since I was trying new beers, I'd write up a small post about each one and put it on the blog so that people could read a little bit about some of the less common beers before purchasing.
My first choice was Hofbräu Original, a pilsner from the Hofbräu House in Munich, Germany (München). I actually had had this beer before when I went to Germany back when I was 20. This was pretty much a must-see location and a must-taste beer. Upon opening the bottle and pouring into a glass I was met with the scent of pilsner that I had hoped for. While the first taste didn't exactly teleport me back to Munich circa summer of 2001, I was not disappointed either.

It can't help but make me think if this was the beer that all American macro-brews strove for when they first started. I could buy a case of this beer and spend a day out on the lake and be one happy camper.
