Being on the west coast, I don't always get access to the full range of brews from Samuel Adams, so I figured I'd grab this beer since every time I meet people from the east coast, they say that Sam Adams brews are one of the things they miss the most. IPAs are generally an instant pleaser with me, so I figured this would be an easy pick.

Look:
Amber in Color (your typical pale)
Foggy
Frothy Head

Nose:
Light Citrus and Floral Notes

Texture:
Bubbly yet Smooth

Palate:
The hops are less aggressive than what I get from west coast IPAs, but it is definitely the prominent flavor. The sweetness is a pleasant surprise and gives the beer character. It also doesn't pack the same citrus punch as some of my favorite IPAs. The flavor is different than what I'd expect from an IPA, but it's definitely done well.

If this was readily accessible and the price were right, it would probably see a recurring role in my refrigerator. Different than what I have come to expect from an IPA, but it's a quality brew through and through. The balance between the smooth sweetness of the beer, with the bubbly carbonation and sweet, hoppy flavor is truly a masterpiece.
